Job Description: Inova Fairfax Hospital Clinical Engineering is looking for a Biomedical Engineer 2 to join the team. This role will be full-time day-shift from Monday - Friday.
The Biomedical Engineer 2 is responsible for the preventative maintenance and repair of medical equipment. Provides a thorough analysis, timely resolution and follow up to problem issues, assigned tasks and requests for special projects related to supporting the continued operations of patient care and business operations and provides the highest levels of customer service. This role is also responsible for maintaining the integrity of the service management system database.

Biomedical Engineer 2 Job Responsibilities:
Demonstrates the ability to troubleshoot communication and interface issues between medical devices and electronic medical records systems. Monitors, maintains and repairs the wired and wireless connections which transmit patient data to the electronic medical record.
Completes and oversees assigned equipment preventative maintenance service and other equipment scheduled services in accordance with the manufacturer guidelines as well as the equipment management plan set forth by Clinical Engineering. Coordinates vendors who are contracted to complete preventative maintenance and repairs of medical equipment.
Oversees vendor performance, monitors quality of work and assures that the vendor is complying with the original manufacturer guidelines, as well as equipment management plan set forth by clinical engineering. Ensures that vendors follow all applicable hospital standards and policies.
Trains BMET I, as directed by supervisor, on preventative maintenance and repair, procedures/techniques and the use of test equipment. Uses electro-mechanical training and standard equipment knowledge to carry out PM in standardized situations utilizing written, oral or diagram instructions. Demonstrates competencies of repair techniques and tests equipment used to perform daily activities.
Completes and oversees assigned PM and other scheduled services (such as installations, special projects, tagging of all included medical devices, dept. sweeps, incoming inspections and additions/deletions) at assigned completion rates.
Documents all service events on each medical device in the service management system database to ensure that history of preventative maintenance and repairs is accurate and in accordance with both the hospital management plan and equipment management plan set forth by clinical engineering.
Demonstrates the ability to run reports out of the service management system to include inventory reports, QA reports, preventative maintenance completion reports, stock on hand reports, open call reports and any other standard report from the database.
Responsible for maintaining an accurate parts inventory in the service management systems to include the following: accurate selling of parts to customer on service call, performing goods in, promptly returning parts not needed, securing exchange parts to be returned, validating the parts inventory quarterly as well as a year end physical inventory and following proper protocol for securing parts to ensure no parts are lost.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Associate's Degree or HS Diploma/GED and equivalent relevant experience
Experience: Two years of relevant experience
Certification: Completion of 2 vendor training courses or equivalent electronic, Information Technology/Information Systems experience
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous experience repairing biomedical equipment or working in a healthcare setting preferred.
