Informaticist-Clinical Senior
(This is a hybrid position involving onsite work within the state of Indiana)
This is a clinician-centric role which involves the ability to provide a bridge between clinicians and technical teams to advance efficiencies in workflow. In this role, you will leverage your expertise in health informatics to optimize clinical workflows, enhance data management, and support the implementation of electronic health records (EHR) systems. Ideal candidates will have a strong background in healthcare IT, excellent problem-solving skills, ability to complete tasks autonomously and a passion for improving patient care through innovative technology solutions. The candidate should proactively recognize concerns such as safety and quality issues that arise and effectively manages or escalates appropriately. Expected to be a subject matter expert at the application level, independent worker, and takes ownership of projects. There will be an expectation for this role to get Epic accreditation within 6 months - 1 year of employment.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Supports the decision-making of healthcare consumers, nurses, and other professionals in all roles and settings to achieve healthcare consumer safety and advocacy.
- Supports data analytics, including quality of care measures, to improve population health outcomes and global health.
- Provides guidance to other team members in the workflow analysis, design, development, deployment and support of future components of the clinical information system.
- Serves as a SME for current-future state workflow analysis and system design.
- Provides training and education in order to more thoroughly develop the team, assists with analysis of new functionality available within Cerner and contribute to team strategic planning.
- Participates in the development and execution of the clinical integration and improvement strategies.
- Provides analytical, technical, and problem resolution with clinical information as it relates to the end-user (clinical/provider) accessibility, usability, workflow/processes, policies and procedures.
- Communicates and promotes the use of informatics to clinical staff, medical executive committees, and any other designated individuals by presenting and discussing approaches to support safe patient-centered care.
- Considers the impact of technological changes on patient safety, health-care delivery, quality reporting and the nursing process.
- Leads in the design and promotion of useful, innovative information technologies that advance practice and achieve desired outcomes.
STRONGLY PREFERRED:
- 3+ years Informatics experience.
- Epic experience.
- 5 years clinical experience with ambulatory expertise.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree required, RN preferred.
- Masters in Nursing, Information Science, Healthcare Administration or related field preferred.
- Requires current state of Indiana license as a health care professional (e.g., Registered Nurse with an active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Indiana or an active Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC) RN license, Dietitian, Social Worker, or Clinical Psychologist, or other).
- 5-7 years of clinical experience required.
- Requires an in-depth understanding of patient care processes and knowledge of cross-discipline healthcare processes and workflow.
- Previous experience in data systems is required.
- Informatics certification required.
