Position Summary: The primary role of this individual is to perform functions related to compliance and operations of Duke University Health System's (DUHS) 340B Drug Pricing Program. Additional roles include oversight and performance of internal program audits, information technology coordination, vendor account setup and maintenance, and pharmacy team member training. This position will primarily be a day shift position.
Specific duties include (but are not limited to):
Organize daily tasks for Pharmacy 340B Specialists in collaboration with the 340B Pharmacy Manager.
Ensure optimal use of 340B third party administrator (TPA) platforms for mixed use, retail pharmacy, and contract pharmacy universes. TPA activities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Mapping unknown and custom NDCs Reviewing multipliers
Performing WAC split analyses
Monitoring for appropriate transfer of files from DUHS to 340B TPA
Monitoring direct vendor invoice reconciliation
Perform audit activities per the DUHS 340B Oversight Committee direction.
Serve as a project leader for specific 340B program activities including compliance reviews and optimization initiatives.
Ensure compliance with 340B billing requirements established by governmental payors (i.e. Medicaid, Medicare)
Develop a thorough understanding of TPA systems and the functions to be performed. Educate others involved in the purchasing process to ensure proper operation and compliance.
Maintain a thorough understanding of DUHS' 340B Drug Pricing Program structure. Strive to consistently improve the overall efficiency, value, and integrity of DUHS' 340B Drug Pricing Program.
Develop and foster working relationships with other internal working counterparts at DUHS (IT, Finance, Compliance, and others) to facilitate productive exchanges of information to improve 340B Program operations. Provide data, information, and reports as needed for other business units within DUHS.
Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
Minimum Qualifications
Education
Doctor of Pharmacy Degree OR BS Pharmacy Degree
Experience
With a BS Pharmacy degree, two years of pharmacy practice experience, or acceptable board certification, or completion of an accredited residency program and demonstrated ability to achieve positive patient outcomes in a similar environment is required.
With a Doctor of Pharmacy degree, no experience is required.
Strong skills and prior experience with computer technology and programs, including Excel, PowerPoint, and database management software, preferred.
Prior 340B program experience as a pharmacist is strongly preferred.
Working knowledge of Epic, specifically Willow and/or Willow Ambulatory, is preferred. Experience using 340B TPAs preferred.
Understanding of health system pharmacy operations, pharmaceutical procurement, and inventory management is strongly preferred.
Degrees, Licensures, Certifications
Licensed Pharmacist or eligible to practice pharmacy in North Carolina
Apexus ACE certificate preferred
