The role you'll contribute:
AdventHealth switchboard operators compassionately service an average of 95,000 calls per month for 8 hospitals in a 24/7 environment and provides support upon request for multiple CFD-S standalone facilities. Operators frequently engage in essential communications with hospital leaders, physicians, clinical staff and security. Accountable to communicate vital information to maintain the safest environment for patients and employees. Critical responsibilities to learn and communicate up to 15 emergency codes which may include contacting a 911 operator. Make accurate overhead page announcements and send emergent mass communication text messages timely. Is the first point of contact for initiation of Code Blue & Rapid Response Team response. Numerous hours are covered with the single operator on shift being accountable for responding immediately and expertly to emergent and life threating situations. Contacts after-hours on-call staff and coordinates response to patient care request. Valuable qualities the switchboard operator utilizes is their knowledge, hospital experience and sound judgement towards quick and appropriate action in situations that impact patient and employee safety. Maintains flexibility in work schedule and performs tasks to meet the needs of CFD-S Operator Services. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.

- Contacts key personnel after hours as needed.
- Maintains an operational call log of all activities, requests, and issues.
- Cultivates accurate knowledge of hospital disaster codes and announces them efficiently according to procedure.
- Provides excellent customer service and maintains respectful relationships with all stakeholders.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
The expertise and experience you'll need to succeed :
- High School Grad or Equiv Required
- One or more years of Work Experience Preferred
- Ability to read, speak, listen, receive, understand, and disseminate communications effectively
- Competent knowledge in standard computer applications with an ability to type 30 wpm
- Capable of learning and retaining a vast amount of information including clinical terminology
- Adept in multi-tasking in a high volume and fast paced environment
- Ability to work independently and to apply logical and safe decision making in communicating critical situations
- Embraces learning and adapting to frequent changes to data used to direct and manage calls
- Maintains calm and courteous composure when dealing with emergencies or dissatisfied callers
- Strong independent worker, critical thinking, and good judgement qualities
- Bilingual skills
