General Summary:
The ED Supervising Nurse is a member of the nursing leadership team who assists the Senior Nurse Manager with the daily (24/7) operations of the nursing unit/department. The Clinical Team Leader skillfully performs all ED nursing roles including, but not limited to, triage, charge, and resuscitation room assignments.
Responsibilities:
Performs direct supervision of all nursing team members ensuring leadership presence and visibility on unit(s). a. Staff and patient rounding/service recovery b. Problem solving c. Coaching and crucial conversations d. Role modeling expected behaviors e. Overseeing standard work and adherence to hospital/unit policies f. Performs formal coaching, counseling, and performance evaluations 2. Coordinates safe, effective, and efficient patient care a. Patient flow i. Performs and assists with real time audits of documentation and care b. Allocation of resources to include scheduling, assignments, staffing c. Management of supplies and equipment d. Participates in hospital and departmental safety, and quality initiatives i. Variances ii. EMSC iii. Data collection and analysis 3. Demonstrates team building within the ED and with internal and external customers. 4. Exhibits knowledge of current professional practice standards, laws, and regulations, including but not limited the ANA Code of Ethics and Bill of Rights in decision making, EMTALA, The Joint Commission, CMS. 5. Exhibits positive interactions to promote a healthy work environment. 6. Demonstrates standards of excellence which includes always practicing the Bayhealth values in all interactions. 7. Demonstrates exemplary documentation of patient care serving as a role model for the same. 8. Meets or exceeds established timelines/deadlines. 9. All other duties as assigned within the scope and range of job responsibilities.
Required Education, Credential(s) and Experience:
Education: Bachelor Degree Nursing
Credential(s): Registered Nurse; Basic Life Support; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support; Pediatric Advanced Life Support; NIH Stroke Scale Certification; Trauma Nursing Core Course Certification Or Trauma Certified Registered Nurse (TCRN) Or Advanced Trauma Care for Nurses (ATCN).
Experience: Required: Three years RN experience in hospital Emergency department.
