Position Summary
This position, under the supervision of a pharmacist, assists in the procurement, storage, preparation, distribution, and delivery of medications, information, and other pharmaceutical products to Phoenix Children’s patients. Duties are performed in accordance with all applicable Arizona Board of Pharmacy statutes, rules, and department policies and procedures. This position maintains all competencies required for the Pharmacy Tech l position. In addition, this position supports, demonstrates, and maintains competencies for non-hazardous and hazardous non-sterile compounding and the Prescription Discharge Delivery Service. This position reports directly to the Outpatient Pharmacy Supervisors . This position also receives supervision from Clinical Pharmacists, Lead Pharmacists, and/or Lead Pharmacy Technicians. This position does not supervise any other position.
Education
- High School Diploma or equivalent. (Required)
Experience
- One or more years of experience as a Phoenix Children’s Outpatient Pharmacy Technician l. (Preferred)
- Thorough working knowledge of Retail or Outpatient pharmacy operations or equivalent. (Required)
- Thorough working knowledge within one of the following service areas: non-sterile compounding, prescription discharge delivery service, inventory management, third-party billing and prior authorizations, pharmacy finances, quality assurance, or delivery/courier services. (Required)
- One or more years of experience in Retail or Outpatient pharmacy or equivalent. (Required)
Certifications
- Licensed Pharmacy Technician in the State of Arizona. (Required)
- Nationally Certified by PTCB or NHA (National Healthcareer Association). (Required)
Special Skills
- Experience with pharmacy information software and point-of-sale (POS) systems. (i.e. cash register). (Required)
- Demonstrated ability to develop collaborative and effective working relationships with all members of the pharmacy and patient care team and ability to work independently and as part of a team to meet assigned goals. (Required)
- Demonstrated excellent oral and written communication skills. (Required)
- Demonstrated excellence in provision of customer service. (Required)
- Bilingual in English/Spanish - Preferred but NOT Required (Preferred)
