Yale School of Medicine (YSM) is one of the world's leading centers for biomedical research, advanced clinical care, and medical education. The YSM department of pediatrics a world leader in improving the health of children and adolescents by transforming and integrating pediatric education, research, and clinical care. Yale New Haven Children's Hospital
( YNHCH) offers Connecticut's largest and most comprehensive array of pediatric services. With 208 licensed beds, YNHCH includes two neonatal intensive care units, a pediatric cardiac intensive care unit, a pediatric intensive care unit, a pediatric psychiatry unit, an adolescent psychiatry unit, 24-hour Level 1 Pediatric Emergency Trauma Center and a pediatric surgery center. YNHCH, with campuses in New Haven and Bridgeport, is part of the nationally recognized Yale New Haven Hospital, a 1,541-bed not-for-profit teaching hospital affiliated with Yale School of Medicine. The Yale New Haven Hospital campuses and associated ambulatory sites are Magnet-designated by the American Nurses Credentialing Center. In addition to its inpatient units, YNHCH has three Pediatric Specialty Centers in New Haven and others in Greenwich, New London, Norwalk, Old Saybrook and Trumbull to provide specialty care to children closer to their communities. Principal Responsibilities: The Executive Director for Children's Hospital plays a critical role in advancing the fundraising goals and transforming healthcare. The Executive Director will lead a comprehensive fundraising program to cultivate and steward a portfolio of dedicated donors who share the vision of YNHCH being a world leader in improving the health of children and adolescents by transforming and integrating pediatric education, research, and clinical care. class children's hospital . Jointly reporting to the Associate Vice President for Development and Alumni Affairs at the Yale School of Medicine and the Chair of Pediatrics at Yale School of Medicine and Physician-in-Chief of Yale New Haven Children's Hospital, the Executive Director will build and supervise a team of fundraisers to oversee fundraising efforts focused on the research and care of children at both the School of Medicine and Yale New Haven Children's Hospital, aligning their work with the priorities set by leadership. The Executive Director will participate in strategic planning, ensuring that fundraising efforts align with the department of pediatrics and hospital strategic priorities. They will bring sophisticated development expertise, employing philanthropic and stewardship strategies to engage grateful patients, friends, and alumni in supporting Yale Pediatrics and Yale New Haven Children's Hospital research, teaching, and clinical programs. As a valued senior management team member, the Executive Director will inspire trust, foster collaboration, and advocate for staff while serving as a thought leader in fundraising.

Manages, mentors, and guides a team of directors, managers, and other staff in their work, programs, initiatives, and activities. Maintains a comprehensive understanding of the University and its priorities and needs and represents the University in interactions with prospective donors/donors, volunteers, alumni, grant makers, and other individuals and groups/entities. Establishes and implements long- and short-range goals for the functional area(s) consistent with University goals and objectives. Sets and achieves unit objectives. Develops strategies to achieve unit results and enhance productivity and performance. Establishes, promotes, strengthens, and maintains productive and collaborative relationships with key constituents and partners - both inside and outside the university. Directs and establishes parameters for large projects for the Office of Development. Works with internal and external contacts to solve problems that range from routine to complex in nature. Oversees and/or conducts research, as needed, in evaluating viable solutions. Directs, implements and ensures compliance with new or revised standards, policies, and procedures, affecting assigned functional areas Helps assess resource needs, as well as potential expenditures and, as needed, cost saving measures. Represents the University in discussions, interactions, and negotiations either with donors or others, as appropriate. Implements strategies to provide professional development for staff and to encourage their highest level of performance. Coaches, develops and inspires staff to maximize their potential. Required Skills and Abilities: Proven success in leading and implementing large strategic fundraising and advancement planning efforts, including those with a multi-/inter-disciplinary focus. Proven track record in identifying prospects and cultivating, soliciting and closing significant and transformative gifts from a range of sources. Superb organizational, interpersonal, and written and oral communication skills. Conversant in the sciences. Ability to articulate a vision and strategy in coordination with an executive leadership team. Experience managing, inspiring, leading and directing staff with an emphasis on building a strong and collaborative team. Commitment to an inclusive workplace. Required Education and Experience Bachelor's Degree and ten years of related work experience in an academic, medical or research institution or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Education and Experience 1. Significant strategic planning; knowledge of, or direct experience, in a fundraising campaign within larger organizations. 2. Familiarity with the mission of a complex university. 3. Comfort with and prior leadership in a medical or research environment, related to children's hospital or department of pediatrics setting.
