The Division of Neonatology in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of California, San Francisco, and UCSF Benioff Children's Hospitals San Francisco/Oakland is recruiting faculty at the Instructor, Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor rank in the Adjunct, Clinical X, Health Sciences (HS) Clinical, or In Residence series. Academic rank will be commensurate with experience.
Selected candidates will join a major academic medical center with an established fellowship training program. Clinical responsibilities may include duties at UCSF locations in San Francisco and Oakland, as well as other UCSF-affiliated sites. Successful candidates will be expected to contribute to the Department's mission of excellence in research, education, and patient care.
UCSF's Division of Neonatology has been a leader in the care of critically ill newborns since the founding of the William H. Tooley Intensive Care Nursery in 1964 in collaboration with the Cardiovascular Research Institute. The division continues to set the standard for innovation through pioneering programs, including the first of its kind Neuro Intensive Care Nursery, a Pulmonary Hypertension Destination Program, and a robust Follow Up Program that supports the long term neurodevelopment of high risk infants.
Minimum Qualifications • MD, DO, or equivalent degree, with eligibility for medical licensure in California. • Board certification or board eligibility in Pediatrics and Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine. For recent fellowship graduates who are not yet certified, board eligibility is acceptable with the expectation of timely certification. • Completion of an ACGME-accredited fellowship in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine, or equivalent fellowship training with eligibility for board certification in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications • Certification in the Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP). • Experience teaching and supervising learners, including medical students, residents,and fellows. • Evidence of scholarly activity—peer-reviewed publications, clinical research, quality improvement initiatives, or presentations at national meetings. • Interest or experience in academic pediatrics, including curriculum development, leadership, or program building. • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in collaborative, multidisciplinary care teams. • Additional expertise or focus in areas such as neonatal transport, neurocritical care,palliative care, or global health.
