Overview

Location: Methodist Hospital- Gastroenterology & Hepatology
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM or 7:30 AM - 4:30 PM

Training: Training will be onsite. Upon successful completion of training there may be an opportunity for Hybrid work from home 1 or 2 days per week dependent upon patient care needs.

Position Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and collaborative Patient Flow Specialist to support the GI inpatient service at Methodist Hospital. This role is essential in managing the patient journey from admission through discharge, ensuring seamless coordination of care and communication across teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate all consults, admissions, transfers, and pre-operative activities.

• Maintain and communicate team and call schedules to all relevant stakeholders.

• Manage weekend assignments and admission orders.

• Respond to patient calls, assisting with post-discharge needs and concerns.

• Assign overnight cases to appropriate teams and update assignments in Cerner.

• Calculate and report the daily census.

• Schedule inpatient and outpatient GI procedures.

• Arrange post-discharge follow-up appointments across Methodist, University, North, and Saxony locations.

Qualifications

• Required: High school diploma or equivalent.

• Preferred:

  • Graduation from an accredited Medical Assistant or LPN program.

  • Experience in admitting, bed management, or patient placement, including familiarity with payer requirements.

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact professionally with physicians, hospital administration, patients, and nursing staff.
