The Outpatient Pharmacy Supervisor is responsible for overseeing daily operations within the outpatient pharmacy, ensuring high-quality patient service, adherence to safety and regulatory standards, and efficient workflow management. This role involves supervising pharmacy technicians, supporting staff development, managing inventory, and collaborating with healthcare providers to optimize patient care. The Outpatient Pharmacy Supervisor plays a key role in improving pharmacy services, driving performance metrics, and enhancing the patient experience within the outpatient setting.
Responsibilities:
Supervise daily outpatient pharmacy operations, ensuring efficient workflows, accurate prescription filling, and timely patient service.
Supervise, train, and mentor pharmacy technicians and support staff, providing guidance and support in their responsibilities.
Develop, implement, and maintain policies and procedures to ensure safe and effective medication dispensing.
Monitor and analyze key performance metrics, making adjustments as needed to improve service standards and operational efficiency.
Educate patients on prescription services, preventive health practices, and wellness as related to medication use.
Manage medication inventory, including ordering, storage, and monitoring to ensure the availability and accuracy of medications.
Ensure compliance with all state and federal regulations, including those from the DEA and FDA, as well as accreditation standards.
Participate in pharmacy safety and quality improvement initiatives, providing input on processes that enhance patient safety and satisfaction.
9. Work closely with healthcare providers, including physicians and nurses, to support cohesive and effective patient care.
Participate in performance improvement projects, gathering and analyzing data to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Stay informed on industry best practices and emerging technologies that could improve the efficiency of pharmacy operations.
Serve as the responsible person as required with the board of pharmacy.

Other information:
Technical Expertise
1. Strong knowledge of outpatient pharmacy operations, medication management, and regulatory requirements.
2. Experience in pediatric outpatient pharmacy management is preferred.
3. Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to lead and motivate a team.
4. Proficiency in pharmacy software systems and familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite.
5. Experience with quality improvement methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma) is preferred.
Education and Experience
1. Education: Bachelor's Degree or Doctor of Pharmacy Degree is required
2. Licensure: Current License by the Ohio State Board of Pharmacy is required.
3. Certification: None
4. A Post Graduate Year 1 Pharmacy Residency (PGY1) is preferred.
5. Years of relevant experience: 2 years is required.
6. Years of experience supervising: 2 years is preferred.
