Joe DiMaggio Children?s Hospital (JDCH), part of the Memorial Healthcare System, is seeking a Per Diem BE/BC Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist to join its inpatient behavioral health team. This position offers flexible coverage primarily on nights and weekends and holidays, with the potential for additional weekday coverage during the provider?s time off. The role is available for an immediate start, with an open-ended duration. The psychiatrist will provide inpatient psychiatric care, including consultation in the pediatric emergency department and psychiatric emergency assessment unit. Occasionally, outpatient support may be required, such as medication refill requests when outpatient providers are unavailable.The typical schedule includes weekend coverage from Saturday 8:00 AM through Monday 8:00 AM, with weekday rounding on an every-other-day call basis. The psychiatrist is on 24-hour call on days they round, with overnight calls taken by phone only, eliminating the need to remain in the hospital overnight. Psychiatrists? complete psychiatric admission notes, while physical exams and histories & physicals are completed by pediatric hospitalists. Time allotted for new evaluations and follow-ups is flexible, provided all patients are seen and documented in a timely manner.The psychiatrist will work alongside a multidisciplinary team that includes psychologists, pharmacists, therapists, nurses, behavioral technicians, and a broad psychosocial support staff, such as art and music therapists, child life specialists, and social workers.

Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital is a 226 bed free-standing children’s hospital in Hollywood, Broward County, Florida located near Fort Lauderdale. The hospital is currently undergoing a 4-story vertical expansion to double the number of floors and to continue to meet its commitment to providing the highest quality and safest care for children in the region. This expansion is scheduled to open the Fall of 2022 and includes a new CVICU and Cardiac Step Down Unit as well as state-of-the-art ORs and cath labs.
Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital is one of six hospitals that are part of Memorial Healthcare System, the third largest public health system in the country. Memorial delivers nearly 14,000 babies per year in three hospitals and has 132 Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) beds – both Level II and III services (the state of Florida does not yet have a separate designation for Level IV care).
Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital (JDCH) has robust high-risk and congenital programs including a US News and World Report ranked pediatric Cardiology and Heart Surgery Program, one of only two active programs in the state that does heart transplant...s. JDCH’s Orthopedic and Sports Medicine program is also ranked by US News and World Report as number one in Florida and is one of the largest programs in the southeastern United States. JDCH also has robust Neurosciences, Hematology/Oncology and other specialized surgical programs (approximately 10,000 surgeries per year), and the area’s largest pediatric and neonatal transport team, which also does mobile ECMO.
JDCH serves over 375,000 children per year from around the state. Approximately 100,000 children are cared for in our three emergency rooms across the county per year. JDCH’s services continue to grow with the opening of the new specialty center/ambulatory surgery center in Palm Beach County in 2018 and a new ambulatory pavilion in Miramar, near Miami-Dade County which will open in 2022.
