The Department of Diagnostic Radiology and Nuclear Medicine at the University of Maryland School of Medicine is recruiting faculty for the division of Neuroradiology. The Division of Neuroradiology serves the University of Maryland Medical Center (UMMC) and affiliated hospitals. UMMC is an 800-bed acute care hospital featuring a Neurocare Center of Excellence and the renowned Shock Trauma Center. UMMC is home to the Maryland-DC region’s busiest comprehensive stroke center and one of the leading neurovascular services.
Under new leadership, the Department is undergoing a dynamic transformation building on its longstanding legacy of excellence. The Department has a new competitive compensation plan (with performance-based incentives) coupled with a focus on faculty flexibility in schedules and staffing.

We prioritize faculty flexibility. Part-time or full-time positions available. Traditional 4-day clinical workweek vs. grouped academic days.

Typical schedules with 15 weeks non-clinical time (8 weeks academic, 11 days CME, and 25 days’ vacation/personal) as well as 14 paid holidays! Fixed schedules are also available in discussion with the Division Director and Chair (e.g. 7 on 7 off or 7 on 14 off).
Mix of hybrid onsite and remote work from MD is favored, however, we do offer remote only positions from MD, FL, AL, GA, TN.

Qualifications:
MD or equivalent degree
Eligibility or certification by the American Board of Radiology (ABR)
Qualification for a Maryland medical license
Completion of an ACGME-accredited neuroradiology fellowship (minimum 1 year)
Neuroradiology CAQ-certified or eligible
Proficiency in basic spine interventional procedures and interpretation of MRI/CT of the brain, spine, head, and neck

The University of Maryland Medical Center Downtown Campus is the flagship academic medical center at the heart of University of Maryland Medical System. It has an 806-bed facility with a large outpatient department. One unique aspect of the hospital is the Maryland Institute of Emergency Medical Services System (best known for The R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center) which is known as the world leader in trauma care, research and training, one of the highest volume trauma centers in the US.The equipment in the radiology department is state-of-the-art, including five digital subtraction angiography suites 2 of which are biplane with a third being CT-Angio hybrid, five CT scanners 4 of which are dual energy systems, four MRI scanners (two 1.5T systems and two 3T systems). The ultrasound section has four Philips Elite systems and one GE Logiq Nine. Nuclear medicine is physically and administratively an integrated part of the department and is well equipped with two PET-CT systems, a Philips and a Siemens. We have three state-of-the-art SPECT cameras. We have general RF and radiography rooms in the Main department, the ED and the OP Pavilion. We are an NCI designated Breast Center o...f Exellence. The department has recently deployed a sophisticated system-wide Carestream PACS (13 hospitals and several office locations) with a variety of post-processing systems including Tera-Recon, Circles and Syngo-via.University Imaging Center, our private outpatient center on the downtown campus boasts two new 64 slice CT scanners, a 1.5T MR, two general ultrasound units, fluoroscopy, general radiography and a bone densitometry unit. The VA Maryland Health Care System, Baltimore Division, is an integral part of the program. All University of Maryland medicine residency programs are fully integrated with the Baltimore VA. Approximately 10% of the radiology resident's time is spent in the VA Maryland Health Care System, Baltimore Division.The Department also provides Radiology services at several other University of Maryland System hospitals to include University of Maryland Midtown Campus, a 180-bed unit located about 1 mile from the Downtown Campus, a 98-bed hospital in Charles County, a new 259-bed hospital in Prince George’s County and the Rehabilitation and Orthopaedic Institute. A combination of on-site radiologists and remote reads from the University Hospital provides sub-specialty service. Teaching is an important part of our service and we currently have 38 Radiology Residents, 4 Nuclear Residents and 12 fellows. We have ACGME approved fellowship programs in Interventional Radiology, in Neuroradiology and in Nuclear Medicine. In addition to these, the department also offers fellowships in Abdominal Imaging, Breast Imaging, Musculoskeletal Radiology, Trauma Radiology, Thoracic Radiology, MRI and Informatics. Approximately 250,000 examinations are performed each year at University of Maryland Medical Center. This includes 10,000 angiographic or interventional procedures, 40,000 CT's and 10,000 MR exams. Nuclear medicine performs approximately 2,100 studies per year and over 11,000 sonographic procedures are performed each year. About 80,000 exams are performed annually at the VA Maryland Health Care System, Baltimore Division, with a grand total of 460,000 performed each year for all locations.
