JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Senior Planning Analyst plays a key role in supporting enterprise strategy, service line growth, and business planning efforts across Ballad Health by developing and delivering high-quality organizational and market analyses. This position will serve as serve as an insight integrator across finance, clinical, and operational domains to inform system-level and entity-specific decision-making. The role connects enterprise-level goals to actionable local strategies by delivering forecasts, advanced data synthesis, compelling visualizations, performance analytics, and decision-ready insights.
Key Responsibilities:
Enterprise Strategy & Business Planning: Lead the development of market, competitor, and organizational analyses to support strategic initiatives, including the system’s Management Action Plan (MAP) and regulatory oversight (e.g., COPA). Also create and maintain executive dashboards and strategic forecasting models.
Advanced Analytics: Conduct complex quantitative and qualitative analyses; synthesize findings into actionable insights for executive, clinical, and operational leadership.
Presentation & Visualization: Develop impactful presentations using Microsoft Office, Power BI, and/or Tableau to communicate key findings and recommendations.
Project Management: Independently lead and manage planning-related projects from conception through completion, often with overlapping deadlines.
Market Intelligence: Serve as subject matter expert in using market analytics tools (e.g., Sg2, claims-based datasets) and provide market share data and insights.
Regulatory & Reporting Support: Prepare, review, and/or submit data for Certificate of Need/Public Need applications, Joint Annual Reports/VA Annual Licensure Surveys, and other state-required submissions.
Physician & Provider Planning: Support maintenance of physician inventory data to inform provider recruitment and need assessments.
Mentorship: Assist in onboarding, training, and development of junior planning analysts.
Strong understanding of healthcare market trends and planning methodologies.
Excellent analytical skills, with the ability to manage, merge and interpret multiple data sources (e.g., claims data, EMR, socio-demographic, workforce, Social Determinants of Health).
Proficient in data visualization and presentation tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, Excel, PowerPoint).
Develops reusable models, automated dashboards and interactive scorecards.
Strong communication and facilitation skills; able to lead discussions and convey complex information clearly.
Highly organized and self-directed, with ability to manage competing priorities.
Team-oriented with a proactive and positive approach.
Requirements: 1. Masters degree in business administration, health administration or related field required.
2. Minimum of five years of experience in health care planning, finance required or analytical analysis.
3. Excellent communication skills, proficiency with personal computers, advanced spreadsheets, databases, business graphics and organization skills required. Proficiency with strategic planning software products preferred.
