The outpatient Women's Chemo Infusion Center is dedicated to providing excellent care to women with a variety of gynecologic cancers. In a collaborative environment, our team of infusion nurses, medical assistants, nurse coordinators, physicians, and nurse practitioner strive to provide chemotherapy in a safe, compassionate and timely manner.

Role Purpose
This position provides support to the clinical care team under the direction of the nursing staff. Duties include support of the outpatient visit through selected tasks according to practice protocols and procedures. The Sr. Medical Assistant is also integral in the ongoing quality assurance of processes as well as onboarding of new staff.
Responsibilities
Supports the outpatient encounter with knowledge of patient flow (including scheduling appointments, tests, and lab work), insurance processes, and coordination of resources including durable medical equipment.
Assist, as trained, in outpatient procedural visits through duties such as the set-up of instruments, labeling of specimens, and general chaperoning of patient exams.
Performs clinical skills such as point of care testing and EKGs. Obtains patient information including vital signs, patient histories and other health information through the medical record and patient screening. Maintains accurate and prompt documentation in the medical record. Relays important information to the health care team in a timely manner.
Regularly participates in the auditing of patient care processes. Partners with nursing leadership on projects that enhance workflow and ultimately the patient experience.
Participates in the onboarding and training of new medical assistants and assists leadership in coaching other medical assistants.
