Position Overview

This role is responsible for scheduling surgical procedures, diagnostic tests, therapy services, and other medical appointments in a timely and accurate manner. The position may also involve obtaining related documentation such as patient information and insurance coverage, coordinating with other departments and facilities, and ensuring optimal utilization of resources to support patient care.

Additional responsibilities include maintaining records, coding charges, performing clerical and administrative duties, verifying compliance of written orders, and potentially conducting charge audits for the department.

Key Responsibilities

• Schedule surgical procedures, diagnostic tests, and medical appointments

• Coordinate scheduling with other departments and facilities

• Obtain and verify patient and insurance information

• Maintain accurate records and code charges

• Ensure timely receipt and compliance of written orders

• Perform clerical and administrative tasks

• May conduct charge audits for the department

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required

• Experience:

  • Medical office experience preferred

  • Scheduling experience preferred

• Skills & Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of insurance verification preferred

  • Familiarity with Cerner scheduling preferred

  • General understanding of medical terminology and anatomy

  • Basic computer skills
