The G.V. (Sonny) Montgomery VA Medical Center, Jackson, MS is seeking a full-time Physician - Staff Psychiatrist, board certified or board eligible, to join our expanding clinical practice. We are fully committed to providing top quality medical care by serving and honoring America’s Veterans.
Candidate must possess MD/DO from an accredited institution, have completed residency training to board certification, and possess an active, current, unrestricted license in any U.S. State or territory.
Additional requirements:
Oversees the Acute Mental Health Inpatient unit, a major program at GVSM VAMC, delivering specialized, complex, and highly professional care that significantly impacts Veterans' healthcare.-
Ensures well-coordinated, high-quality post-discharge care for high-risk Veterans.
Performs strategic planning and resource allocation to ensure high-quality services for Veterans.
Manages key clinical, training, and administrative programs with full responsibility for day-to-day activities.
Supervises direct reports, including psychiatrists, nurse practitioners, nurses, psychologists, neuropsychologists, clinical social workers, marriage and family therapists, licensed professional mental health counselors, addiction therapists, vocational rehabilitation specialists, and/or peer support specialists.
Highlights of this opportunity:
Potential starting base salary range: $260,000-$280,000
Daily schedule: Monday-Friday 8am - 4:30 pm
Paid Time Off: 50-55 days per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays, and possible 5 days paid for CME)
No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restriction on moonlighting
