JOB SUMMARY The Dispatcher displays critical thinking and organizational skills necessary to receive, evaluate, and dispatch emergency and non-emergency calls for assistance. Utilizes effective communication-both verbal and written-to maintain efficient operations and respond to Police and security situations. Exhibits technological proficiency to operate complex telecommunications, alarm, and computer systems.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE
Answers, evaluates, prioritizes, and dispatches emergency and non-emergency calls for assistance to Police and Security Officers.
Monitors and processes calls from a large number of incoming telephone lines, intercom lines, emergency call boxes, and alarms.
Monitors law enforcement computer communications, severe weather alerts, and other critical incidents in the Dallas/Fort Worth area that may impact campus safety.
Oversees a complex system of alarms, computerized access control, and CCTV.
Must remain calm and focused during high-stress or life-threatening situations to ensure the appropriate response from Police, Security, and Medical personnel.
Communicates effectively and professionally with all callers, emergency personnel, and internal departments.
SCHEDULE / SHIFTS
This position requires the ability to work rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
Flexibility is essential, as coverage may be needed during emergencies, staff shortages, or special events.
Dispatch operations run 24/7 to support continuous safety operations.

EDUCATION - H.S. Diploma/GED Equivalent
EXPERIENCE - Less than 1 Year of Experience
CERTIFICATION/LICENSE/REGISTRATION -
Cert Telecommunicator Oper (TOC): Cert Telecommunicator Oper required within 1 year of hire.
