Peninsula Institute for Community Health dba Southeastern Virginia Health System is a non-profit mission driven organization that is a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) providing primary health care services to the insured, uninsured and underinsured communities in which we are established.  We have locations in Newport News, Hampton, Suffolk, Virginia Beach, Chesapeake and the City of Franklin, Virginia.  We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Chief Medical Officer to lead our medical team and oversee all clinical operations within our organization. The Chief Medical Officer will be responsible for developing and implementing strategic initiatives to enhance patient care, improve clinical outcomes, and drive operational excellence. This individual will collaborate closely with other executive leaders to set clinical priorities and ensure alignment with organizational goals.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in healthcare leadership, with a proven track record of driving performance improvement and fostering a culture of continuous learning and innovation. The Chief Medical Officer should possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as they will be working closely with a diverse group of stakeholders including physicians, nurses, and administrative staff.

Key responsibilities include providing clinical oversight, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and promoting a culture of patient safety and quality care. The Chief Medical Officer will also play a key role in physician recruitment and development, as well as implementing best practices to optimize clinical operations.

• Medical degree (MD or DO)
• Board certification in a relevant specialty
• Minimum of 7 years of clinical experience
• 5+ years of healthcare leadership experience
• Strong understanding of healthcare regulations and quality standards
• Excellent leadership and communication skills
