Job Summary

The Non-Certified Radiologic Tech operates x-ray equipment under a Texas physician's supervision. They make routine radiographs of designated body regions as ordered by the physician and perform Medical Assistant duties as requested. They prepare patients and process radiographic images. They ensure patient care meets standards of safety, effectiveness, patient rights, and guest relations.

Essential Functions of the Role

• Radiographic exam procedures by NCTs must follow Texas Medical Board Regulations, including (\u00a7194.13) and (\u00a7194.17).
• Identify patient service needs using AIDET when talking to patients. Ensure the correct exam is performed on the correct patient. Establish personal rapport with potential and actual patients and others who understand the service needs.
• Demonstrates an understanding of radiation dose reference levels and monitoring. Takes action if the estimated dose exceeds set reference levels. Takes action when the reference level is exceeded, which may include patient follow-up.
• Prepare the patient for the radiological procedure by positioning them. Adjust immobilization devices and move equipment into position. Adjust equipment controls to set exposure factors.
• Minimize radiation to patients and staff by practicing radiation protection techniques. Use beam restrictive devices, patient shielding, and knowledge of exposure factors.
• Documents pregnancy status of female patients of child bearing age.
• Ensure Radiology equipment works by performing quality checks. Follow manufacturer's recommendations and troubleshoot equipment as needed. Call for repairs when necessary.
• Maintain radiology supplies inventory by checking stock to establish levels. Anticipate needed supplies, place and expedite orders, and verify receipt.
• Wear a personal monitoring device on the collar and outside the apron consistently. Submit it promptly and regularly for occupational dosage assessment. Report any loss, damage, or unusual events with the personal monitoring device immediately to the Radiation Safety Office.

• Ensure customer satisfaction by limiting wait times and providing courteous service. Remain professional, review patient satisfaction scores, and develop action plans when needed.
• Demonstrates and maintains current knowledge, continued education and skills appropriate care for all groups.
• Able to serve as preceptor by providing quality training to new team members and on new services and initiatives.
• Able to take call, if required.

 Basic Life Support (BLS)

 Non-Cert Radiology Tech (NCT): Requires current registration as NCT with the Texas Medical Board.
