The Research Assistant II, under supervision of a Manager/Director, provides assistance in assigned and delegated tasks in support of research projects. Responsibilities include data collection and abstraction, data entry, eligibility screening, registry enrollments, research patient registration, subject visit coordination and supports industry and investigator-initiated projects. Provides support to counselors, coordinators, and/or physicians through coordination and administration of projects and processes including clinical, research, and administrative duties.
Responsibilities:
Assist with processing, packaging, and shipping of clinical testing specimens & research samples
Maintain stock of testing kits, patient handouts, and other supplies
Mails and/or faxes follow up documentation to patients and outside referring providers
Database management including data entry in electronic data systems
May assist with project coordination
May conduct chart reviews and data abstraction
Obtains complete and detailed information from callers
Collects necessary records such as previous testing, medical records and HIPAA authorizations in advance of patient appointments
Complete testing requisition forms, assignment of diagnosis and procedure codes to ensure accurate billing
Aids families in the scheduling of appointments and for subsequent appointments for family members
Aids in preparing the documentation necessary for insurance preauthorization and appeals and tracks the process
Performs eligibility screening
Reviews and obtains patient consent
Completes administrative calls to patients, healthcare providers and testing laboratories
Interacts with families to discuss testing pre-authorization process
Tracks the status of ongoing communication with clinical laboratories related to coverage and progress of testing
Navigates electronic health record and clinical databases to obtain clinic notes and family history information to satisfy insurance authorization requests
Participates in planning meetings relevant to the process
Interacts with faculty, staff, and students to promote the goals and objectives of the section
May present project data and components to health care professionals at team meetings
Act as liaison between testing laboratories, health insurance providers, and counselors or coordinators
Provide administrative support to develop patient education materials and patient-centered educational events
Calls out results under direction of counselors or coordinators
Verify accuracy of study forms, data, and update study forms per protocol
Collaborate and coordinate with clinicians and research office
Contact subjects to complete study surveys
May perform other duties
Requirements:
Bachelor?s Degree in related field
Two years of directly related experience in a community or medical setting preferred.
Previous experience with clinical projects either in administrative or clinical role preferred.
Administrative experience in a medical office preferred.
