Children’s Minnesota has an exciting opportunity for a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join the Cancer and Blood Disorders program. This is a full-time position working in the inpatient oncology unit.
Children’s Minnesota is the largest pediatric cancer and blood disorders program in the upper Midwest. We care for more than 58 percent of children diagnosed with cancer or blood disorders in Minnesota, and 74 percent of those diagnosed in the Twin Cities metro. Each year, more than 1,000 children are admitted as inpatients to the Jim and Colleen Ryan Pediatric Cancer and Blood Disorders Center at Children’s Minnesota– Minneapolis hospital.
We provide care for children of all ages with all types of malignancies, including brain tumors, solid tumors, leukemia, and blood disorders such as sickle cell disease, bleeding disorders, and anemia.
The greater Hematology/Oncology team is currently composed of 200+ dedicated professionals, including 21 physicians and 15 nurse practitioners, as well as nurse case managers, pharmacists, rehabilitation therapists, dieticians, genetic counselors, social workers, child life experts, home care and hospice specialists.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Inpatient APP in Pediatric Oncology functions as a vital member of the interdisciplinary care team, providing high quality, evidence-based care to pediatric patients with hematologic and oncologic disorders. The APP is responsible for the comprehensive management of oncology patients admitted to the hospital, including initial assessment, ongoing evaluation, coordination of care, and discharge planning. The role includes both autonomous patient care and collaborative practice with attending physicians and the broader multidisciplinary healthcare team.

EDUCATION
APRN Requirements:
Current MN RN/APRN License.
Nationally Board Certified as a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner with either the Pediatric Nursing Certification Board (PNCB) or American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), Doctorate degree in Nursing Practice preferred.
Physician Assistant Requirements:
Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant program.
Physician Assistant Certification by the NCCPA Certification Board and MN Medical Board license required.
EXPERIENCE
Current BLS certification
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification within 60 days of hire
CPHON certification required within one year (2000 hours experience required) of hire
APHON Chemotherapy/Biotherapy certification within 60 days of hire
No minimum experience required
2 years of experience in pediatric healthcare preferred
Competency in or willingness to train in the following procedures, lumbar punctures with administration of intrathecal chemotherapy, bone marrow aspirate/biopsy preferred
