Research Assistant Professor in College of Health Sciences (2 Positions)
The University of Texas at El Paso seeks a highly qualified Research Assistant Professor to join its College of Health Sciences (CHS). The faculty member will have the opportunity to be appointed in the Department(s) of Kinesiology, Public Health Sciences, or Social Work, depending on the candidate's background and preference.
In this role, the faculty member will collaborate with current researchers conducting diabetes and metabolic diseases research agendas. Institutional funding will support the position for up to three years, with the expectation that external funding is secured by the fourth year to sustain their salary and research program.
The faculty member will be expected to collaborate closely with researchers within CHS in the areas of diabetes and metabolic diseases. We are seeking candidates to leverage their expertise and elevate the college's research portfolio. This will involve working with interdisciplinary teams and pursuing external funding opportunities. By leveraging the collective knowledge and resources within CHS, the faculty member will drive innovation and excellence in research, ultimately advancing our understanding of diabetes and metabolic disorders and contribution to advancing the scientific workforce in the field.
The successful candidate will have a strong record of publications, and evidence of engaging in impactful research.
Primary Responsibilities
Engage in interdisciplinary collaboration within the CHS and across campus in diabetes and metabolic disorders research.
Work with a team of researchers to secure external funding.
Job Requirements:
PhD or other doctoral degree in a field related to health research.
Expertise in metabolic disorders, diabetes, or related behavior/condition demonstrated by a strong record of publications.
Preferred Qualifications:
Postdoctoral training experience demonstrating advanced research preparation.
Secured or demonstrated effort in securing extramural research funding.
Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively on interdisciplinary teams.
Experience in translation or implementation and/or community-based research relevant to diabetes and metabolic health.
