Stony Brook University is undergoing tremendous growth. Our outpatient psychiatry service is expanding and we are looking for individuals who welcome the challenge and satisfaction of providing outpatient psychiatric care to a Geriatric population in collaboration with a motivated group of clinicians, educators and researchers.

The Nurse Practitioner in the Adult Outpatient Psychiatry Program will provide services to Geriatric patients, including triage, diagnostic evaluations, follow-up care, prescribing, and individual counseling as part of a multidisciplinary team.

There are also opportunities for supervising/mentoring nurse practitioner students, and clinical research involving Alzheimer's disease.

FLEXIBLE Full-Time schedule totaling forty hours per week, including the possibility of evening hours; 50-100% of appointments/work via telehealth.


Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
Master's degree (foreign equivalent or higher) in Nursing. Graduate of an accredited Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner program. Nurse Practitioner Certification in Psychiatry/ANCC Board Certified. Valid New York State license as a PMHNP.

Preferred Qualifications:
Clinical experience in an Adult Psychiatry Outpatient Program. Experience or Interest in treating older adults with psychiatric disorders (Mood disorders, Anxiety disorders). Experience of Interest in treating cognitive disorders such as Alzheimer's disease and other dementias. Experience providing Supportive Therapy to Adult Patients.
