UConn Health is seeking a board-certified/board eligible Hospice Palliative Medicine (HPM) physician to join our growing palliative care program. This is a clinical role with a focus on inpatient palliative care consultation with occasional clinic coverage with ample opportunity for education and scholarship. You will join a team of exceptional nurse practitioners, a pharmacist and collaborate closely with chaplaincy and social work. In the hospital, the team works closely with Hospital Medicine, the intensive care units, and hematology-oncology as well as local hospices in coordinating inpatient hospice care for appropriate patients. This individual will have a key role in providing palliative care education to Internal Medicine house staff and helping to develop a HPM fellowship (anticipated 2027).

Palliative care services at UConn include the Supportive Care Service, which is embedded in the Neag Comprehensive Cancer Center and provides expert symptom management and support for patients receiving cancer treatment. Currently, the inpatient palliative care team provides consultation Mon – Friday for hospitalized patients. The ambulatory palliative care practice is a rapidly expanding clinic that sees patients with non-malignant serious illness. The team is highly engaged in quality improvement activities and committed to providing evidence-based high-quality care. Opportunity and mentorship for academic development is readily available.

An academic appointment will be offered commensurate with academic qualifications. The qualified candidate will possess broad clinical knowledge, experience in palliative care, excellent interpersonal communication skills, and a passion for interdisciplinary team collaboration in expanding palliative activities throughout the institution.

Requirements:

Board-eligible/certified in palliative care; Connecticut state licensure (or ability to obtain prior to start date); Federal DEA.
