The Director of Facilities and Life Safety is responsible for planning and organizing the safety plans and maintenance of all facilities, equipment & systems for the buildings of Mount Nittany Health. This includes the medical center site and all ambulatory care sites. This work includes overseeing the management of the maintenance team including building a high performing team, the work order system, operating budgets, preventative maintenance program, life safety program, capital planning, supporting construction project management, collaborating with the Facility Project Management team and the overall compliance with the life safety program, for all work spaces including assuring alignment with medical center & ambulatory care’s departmental missions, policies, procedures and conformance with applicable laws, codes, environmental regulations and standards.
The Director assists the CFMO with • Long-term strategic planning for facilities and the workforce; • Establishing and implementing standards for practice and maintain authority, accountability and responsibility for staff in their area of responsibility; • Creates a departmental culture of engagement, teamwork and collaboration, efficiency and professional development • The ongoing support and cultivation of a culture of shared decision-making; • Budgeting, planning, goal setting and tracking and ownership of departmental KPIs • Responding to after-hours emergencies at all facilities of Mount Nittany Health.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education:
1) Bachelor’s degree in relevant field of study required. 2) Master’s degree in Business Administration, Facility Management or Engineering, or equivalent comparable executive level leadership experience required.
Experience:
1) Five years management or executive level experience in healthcare field 2) Five years of overseeing building projects in a healthcare setting 3) Ten years effective, progressively responsible leadership experience in construction or facility maintenance, ideally in the healthcare field.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
1) Experience working in a union environment. 2) Must be familiar with specialized building trades. 3) Proven leadership and management abilities including planning, organizing, directing, controlling and coordinating multiple work units at multiple facilities and on all shifts. 4) Possesses knowledge of laws, regulations, and rules governing areas of responsibility. 5) Possesses basic skills to use Microsoft Windows, navigate in a Windows environment, use web browser software and send/receive e-mail via Microsoft Outlook. 6) Possesses strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills 7) Demonstrates an ability to analyze and leverage data in a manner that assists with departmental planning and creating a workplace founded upon a philosophy of continuous process improvement. 8) Supervises staff, including regular progress reviews and plans for improvement. 9) Demonstrates strong problem solving and the ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions based on accurate and timely analyses. 10) Exercises a high level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation. 11) Demonstrates a high level of proficiency with building engineering and construction project management. 12) Creates a team known for a culture of accountability, follow up, communication, teamwork, engagement and collaboration.

Supervises the leadership team of the facilities management department. Oversees the day to day activities of the work groups within the department. Responsible for overseeing the Life Safety team of Mount Nittany Health.
