The Database Administrator / Server Engineer is responsible for the administration, support, and optimization of SQL and Epic Caché databases and Linux-based server infrastructure within a healthcare environment. This role ensures the stability, security, and performance of mission-critical systems that support clinical and operational functions. The position involves installation, configuration, monitoring, and maintenance of databases and servers, with a focus on data integrity, system availability, and compliance with healthcare regulations. The role requires collaboration with application, infrastructure, and security teams to support system upgrades, troubleshoot performance issues, and maintain a reliable environment aligned with HIPAA and organizational standards.
Responsibilities:
Install, configure, and maintain SQL Server databases, perform regular database backups, restores, and maintenance tasks and monitor performance and tune SQL queries and indexes.
Ensure data integrity and security across all environments.
Implement and maintain high availability and disaster recovery strategies.
Perform basic Linux system maintenance (Red Hat/CentOS/Ubuntu), manage user accounts, file permissions, and basic shell scripting, patch and update system software and monitor system logs and maintain cron jobs and troubleshoot OS-level issues.
Perform basic administration of EPIC Cache environments and monitor Cache database health and performance metrics.
Collaborate with EPIC support teams to troubleshoot Cache-related issues and maintain documentation for Cache systems and interfaces.

Technical Expertise
Exposure to EPIC Cache or InterSystems Cache environments (training or direct experience a plus).
Strong troubleshooting and documentation skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Education and Experience
Education: Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Systems, or related field; or equivalent experience
Licensure: None
Certification: Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate or Linux+ or RHCSA or Epic Cache Admin Certification preferred
Years of relevant experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience with SQL Server (2016 or later) in an administrative capacity and at least one year of experience with Linux system administration.
