The role you'll contribute:

Primary responsibility is the provision of medication distributive functions and pharmacy operational tasks, which includes but is not limited to assisting the pharmacist with all duties of preparing and dispensing of medications, inventory management, and regulatory compliance. Under the direct supervision of a pharmacist, performs duties necessary for the effective daily operation of all department services and programs, including the compounding, dispensing, charging, and delivery of medications to the patients. Accurately responds to medication dispensing requests, prepares medications for pharmacist final review/check, delivers checked medications, and returns unused or expired medications to appropriate pharmacy areas. Prepares sterile products such as IV solutions, piggyback containers, irrigations, TPNs, prefilled syringes, reconstituting of medications under aseptic conditions. Keeps work area and equipment clean and neat. Performs various clerical and specialized duties. Helps in the training of pharmacy technician I and newly hired pharmacy technicians. Accurately refills and conducts inventory of medication dispensing systems and accurately loads and unloads medications as directed. Assists in recording and distribution of large and small volume IV solutions. Performs all necessary tasks related to front reception area. Serves the needs of neonatal, pediatric, adult, adolescent, and geriatric patients. Provides distributive pharmacy services and technical support for the pharmacist, performing activities or tasks in specialty pharmacy services. Assists pharmacists in promoting an organized and functional pharmacy service, prepares medications for dispensing, and maintains records. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.

• Pharmacy Operations * Actively performs all pharmacy technician functions and maintains active proficiency in standard work parameters, hospital and pharmacy specific computer systems, and operational programs * Maintains operational expertise and competency in, and actively provides coverage of at least two of the following: * Central/Distributive operations * Sterile compounding * Decentral/ Automated Dispensing Cabinet delivery pharmacy operations * Controlled substances handling * Participates in appropriate utilization of medication automation, technology, and computer systems. Maintains expertise in electronic medical records processed and accurately interprets records. * Supports automated dispensing cabinet inventory management and maintains proficiency to trouble shoot cabinet issues * Accurately completes medication inventories and accurately prepares and dispenses patientspecific medication doses. Prevents improper drug, dose, dosage form selection, expiration dating, and barcode scanning issues when checking products * Understands how to handle process and appropriately dispose of all waste materials, including all levels of hazardous waste, within the department. Knowledgeable about the appropriate use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and Hazardous Medication Spill Kits in the event of a hazardous medication spill.
• Pharmacy Practice * Facilitates medication safety practices by identifying and reporting potential medication errors such as look-alike sound-alike medications. * Prepares and delivers medication in an accurate, safe and timely manner.
• Clinical Pharmacy Services * Supports practice in all pharmacy areas and clinical services * Collaborates with other pharmacy staff * Collaborates with care providers and Pharmacists to optimize care and improve services.
• Teamwork and Inter-Professional Collaboration * Presents to assigned areas on time and ready to work and does not exhibit unscheduled absenteeism * Assures continuity between shifts, among pharmacy staff assignments, and across pharmacy practice areas * Works effectively with all members of the healthcare team to ensure the best outcome for the patient * Demonstrates sensitivity to the perspective of the patient, caregiver, or health care colleague in all communications * Actively supports teammates (pharmacists, technicians, managers) * Uses effective negotiation skills to resolve conflicts * Demonstrates through behavior AdventHealth's service standards of Own It, Make It Easy, Love Me, and Keep Me Safe.

Qualifications

The expertise and experiences you'll need to succeed:

Required qualification:

• High School Grad or Equiv
• PHRMTECH-R - Registered Pharmacy Technician.
• OR Current, valid Pharmacist Intern license.

Preferred qualification:

• Associate
• 1 contemporary hospital pharmacy, retail or ambulatory
• Sterile Compounding Certification
• Current certification from Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or from the Institute for the Certification of Pharmacy Technicians (ICPT)
