Overview

The Clinical Services Technician collects specimens on all age populations as assigned with minimal patient impact. Responsible for the processing and allocation of laboratory specimens and orders from all sources. Responsible for verification of proper patient and specimen identification, appropriateness of specimen and accompanying orders. Organizes laboratory work flow and appropriately prioritizes processing and distribution of specimens. Utilizes requisite equipment, instruments, and computer systems to test request, accession, correctly label and deliver specimens to appropriate laboratory sections within acceptable time frames. Performs specified procedures within scope of established testing methods and responsibilities. Performs and appropriately documents routine maintenance and quality control procedures on specified equipment and troubleshoots as needed. Trains new employees in the theoretical and operational aspects of this position and serves as a resource for less experienced co-workers. Performs other duties as assigned.
