Pediatric Plastic Surgery Service is proud to support a one-year Craniofacial Airway Orthodontic Clinical Instructor position dedicated to advanced craniofacial airway orthodontics in the dental, medical, and surgical management for pediatric craniofacial patients. As a Clinical Instructor, you will work closely with Orthodontics, Plastic Surgery, and Pediatric Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery Faculty, in addition to extensive training opportunity for Stanford Orthodontic Airway Plate Treatment Program as the world authority in the management of neonatal Pierre Robin Sequence. Clinical research is an integral part of this position.
Goals & Objectives
The objective of the one-year clinical instructorship is to provide the clinical instructor with the comprehensive craniofacial and airway orthodontic training following his/her conventional orthodontic residency. This position will provide additional orthodontic training for those considering pathways to academic orthodontic careers. Dedicated teaching faculty is Dr. HyeRan Choo, DMD, MS, who holds dual specialties in craniofacial orthodontics and dental sleep medicine with over 19 years of craniofacial airway orthodontic experience. In addition, the clinical instructor will interact with a wide breadth of other Stanford Medicine Children’s Health services such as the Aerodigestive and Airway Reconstruction Center, Cleft and Craniofacial Center, Pediatric Nutrition Center, Pediatric Radiology, Pediatric Rehab services, and the Pediatric Sleep Center.
Duties
The clinical instructor should be available for outpatient orthodontic clinic and for inpatient management, independently as well as part of his/her training with the craniofacial airway orthodontic faculty members. Clinical duties will comprise of consults, diagnostic analyses, and devising treatment plans, as well as providing a full scope of conventional orthodontic treatment pediatric patients with craniofacial and airway anomalies at Lucille Packard Children’s Hospital Stanford. Teaching duties will include being the primary liaison for rotating medical students and plastic surgery residents for research and clinical coordination. The Clinical Instructor will also participate in clinical research, interdisciplinary hospital projects, and present at
national and international conferences.
The estimated pay range is $100,000 - 110,000.

The Dental Medicine & Surgery service is committed to the development and education of medical and dental students, residents, fellows and community doctors. We host internal Stanford residents from the Emergency Department, Plastic Reconstructive Surgery and Otolaryngology (Ear Nose and Throat) services. We provide opportunities for undergraduate Stanford students, visiting dental school students as well as international scholars to gain familiarity with dentoalveolar surgery, orthognathic surgery, craniofacial surgery and oral pathology. Our goal is to foster interdisciplinary communication and collaboration to better serve our patients.
