A Post-Doctoral Research Fellow training position is available to study the molecular mechanisms underlying cancer treatment resistance and the development of new therapeutics that include immunotherapeutics. The training will be mentored by Dr. Peter Nelson and members of his research group.

Training opportunities are provided through a highly multi-disciplinary research team that includes scientists with expertise in biochemistry, bioinformatics, single cell genomics, epigenetics, pharmacology and pathology. Responsibilities

The particular areas of emphasis for this position center on studies of resistance to current therapeutics deployed to treat advanced cancer including treatments that exploit androgen receptor signaling, DNA repair deficiency and immune-based agents. We are recruiting a post-doctoral fellow to engage in laboratory-based studies of these processes. This position will focus on delineating the molecular mechanisms driving treatment resistance that include cell intrinsic (e.g. mutation, tumor heterogeneity, cell plasticity, epigenetic) and microenvironment events, with opportunities for translational studies evaluating new clinical approaches that circumvent resistance mechanisms. The research has direct relevance to the treatment of cancer patients.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

• Ph.D./M.D. degree in biology; biochemistry; genetics; molecular biology; cell biology; immunology or related field is required.
• Candidates need to be highly-motivated, organized individuals who think independently but enjoy working as part of a dynamic, collaborative, and multidisciplinary team.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Experience in one of the following areas is desired: medicine/urology/oncology, genomics/genetics, analysis of inflammation/immune composition, pharmacology, biomarker characterization.
• Expertise/skills in molecular biology techniques is desired: RT-PCR, CRISPR or shRNA gene knock-down strategies, immunohistochemistry, ELISA, cell culture, drug toxicity assays.

The annual base salary range for this position is from $77,976 to $95,014, and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.
