Program Goals:

• Provide learning opportunities that enhance clinical competence through the development of priority setting, clinical decision-making, delegation and time management skills
• Enhance the understanding of the multidimensional roles of the registered professional nurse; helping to bridge the education-practice gap that often occurs during the transition from the student role into the role of the registered professional nurse

Program Dates and Information:
Application Closes: 9/28/2025 or when all positions have been filled. 
Start Date: 12/15/2025
End Date: 1/3/2026

The Nurse Extern will commit to a full-time (36 hour) schedule for 3 weeks (dates indicated above). Hours vary and may include day and night shifts, weekends and holidays during the Externship. You will be expected to work the shifts that your preceptors(s) are scheduled. You will recieve your schedule about 2 weeks prior to starting the externship. Orientation on Day 1 (12/15/2025) is mandatory.

Eligibility Factors:

• Must be enrolled in an accredited nursing program.
• Graduation date of Spring 2026, Summer 2026, or Fall 2026
• Cumulative GPA of 2.8
• Valid CPR/BLS Certification throughout program participation dates
• Completion of application packet within deadline requirements (Recent Transcript and Resume)
• Additional details will be provided after Externship application is submitted.
• All application materials should be submitted together, in one email.
