The role you'll contribute:
The Nursing Professional Development (NPD) Practitioner functions as a learning facilitator, change agent, mentor, leader, champion for inquiry, advocate for NPD specialty and partner for practice transitions as they guide the learner toward desired outcomes. The NPD Practitioner continuously uses environmental scanning to intentionally assess opportunities and challenges within and externally to the organization, and identifies opportunities based on global and national healthcare trends, legislative changes, needs of collaborative partners, educational gaps, emerging technologies, and the clinical staff member's desire for growth. The NPD Practitioner actively interacts with learners to contribute to nursing professional development processes and ensures the achievement of measurable outcomes, influences professional role competence and growth of learners in a variety of settings.
The value you'll bring to the team:
- Creates, plans, implements, and coordinates activities related to training of new graduates, experienced nurses, and ancillary staff new to the unit/department based on collection of data that is used systematically and purposefully to ensure relevant and evidence-based learning for each clinician.
- Activities include coaching of new nurses, facilitation of learning, using simulation, and tools that capture objective and subjective data about the individual's knowledge base and actual performance.
- Utilizes clinical problems to promote inquiry/investigation and improvement, follows through with competency assessment of new/changed skills and concepts.
The expertise and experiences you'll need to succeed:
Minimum qualifications :
- Bachelors degree in nursing
- Minimum two (2) years nursing experience
- Current, valid Florida State of Nursing license as a registered professional nurse
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
- Advanced Life support certification (ACLS, PALS, NRP) per specialty/unit requirements
- Medical Surgical Focus
- Nurse Educator
Preferred qualifications:
- Masters degree in nursing or related field
- Prior experience as a preceptor/educator
- Previous teaching experience in formal/informal settings
- Experience in specialty area applying for
- Basic or advanced life support instructor, specialty instructor depending on specialty.
- Certification in Nursing Professional Development (NPD)
- Certification in clinical specialty
